Better Ireland Programme Funds KCCP Youth Training Project
Four of the group passed their ECDL examinations (three with Artesian Computer Services and one through the FAS “Options” Programme). Seven people received certificates in desktop publishing (EEL Computer Centre). Using their skills this group publish the community newsletter, which is distributed free to 3,000 homes in the Kilbarrack area. One person received a certificate in web design. One person received a certificate in DIY from Killester College. Three people passed their foudation course in nail sculpturing. One person received a certificate in Community and Addiction Studies from Urrus. One person passed their forklift driving examination and two people successfully completed the FAS “Options” Programme. Michael
Finn (Chairperson-KCCP) welcomed the Minister to the Centre. He said
that the success had been achieved through the great work that has been
done and the great support that we receive from the local community.
In recognition of the communities involvement Minister Frank Fahey made
a presentation to Bernie Fitzgerald. Michael Finn also thanked FAS for
their continued support in particular he singled out Dermot Reynolds
from the Baldoyle Training Centre who has helped the Progamme over the
years. He also thanked the trainers for their dedication and professionalism.
In particular he thanked Linsey Holland (Arts and Crafts), Maureen Smith
(Healthy Cooking), Andrew Madden (Artesian Computer Services) and Adel
Omar (EEL Computer Centre) and all the other trainers who have contributed. |
